My little trip throughout Spain could not have been a more accommodating one. I traveled to many cities with one of the more outgoing wild families in Michigan, the Wachler’s. It was a beautiful Thursday, as I browsed outside my Spanish classroom in the CEA Main Building. It was 6:30pm and I was anticipating my departure to Granada within the next hour or so. As I got up to leave the classroom early something hit me. No not a paper airplane thrown by JJ, but a tingly feeling. A feeling that this weekend was going to offer something I was looking for. Something I needed. Something I wanted. This feeling was all due to the excitement I had built up in regards to my future encounter with the Wachlers. I took the subway back to my apartment where SkyWachler was waiting for me. We immediately took a little hit of Pooo and hit up a cab to the airport. When we arrived at the airport we had a 10 minute free-time period. We decided to spend it taking down some JD and Coke. Great decision that was.
Our flight to Granada was roughly an hour or so. We arrived at the airport to greet my fans as usual and find a cab to the Palacio de Santa Paula. This hotel was absolutely incredible. It is a 5 Star AC Hotel. We walked into the 5 Star finding comparisons to a Castle like structure. We moved into our room, and there stood small 5’7 Jordan Wachler with a J’Ski. We immediately threw on our robes and headed downstairs for a nice little J/Lift/Steam session. We sat outside and enjoyed beautiful scenery and a nice tight rolled J’Ski. After the sesh we went to the weight room for an intense 20 minutes. I spent those 20 minutes doing dumbbells and upper body lifts. After JWalk, SkyWach, and myself lifted we realized it was that time. We entered the Steam Room with high hopes that the steam was going to fulfill all of our desires and needs. After our showers in preparation for the steam we entered. It began just a bit too cold so we went back to lift for another 5 minutes or so and re-entered the steam. After a half hour or so of pure steam and pore cleaning we left the steam, showered again and went back upstairs.
We woke up the next morning, got a quick breakfast, and headed out for a nice tour of Granada. J Walk was feeling a little sick so he stayed behind. Sky, his majjj and fajj, and Fankle went on a beautiful tour of Alhambra. This geometric masterpiece was filled with mathematically perfected buildings and structures. After we walked through, with our annoying tour guide, we departed back to the hotel to check-out. We picked up our rental car and drove to Marbella. Marbella is overwhelming when you first se it because it is encompassed with beaches and stores. It reminded me a lot of San Diego. After we spent time there we drove to our next hotel in Ronda, Spain called the Guadalupe. This hotel was located on top of an extravagant gorge, which made Gillian look even shorter (You can see pictures of this trip in my Photo Gallery). We checked into the hotel after a crazy car ride which featured Drew (Sky’s Fajj), stalling out a few times in the midst of on coming traffic. Pretty hilarious situations we found ourselves in there. As we arrived we saw the golden arches, which is not a good thing because we ate there twice a day. We put our bags in our hotel rooms and ventured out. J and I passed out while D went out to dinner with LTW. Sky came back from dinner with McDonalds for both J and I. Within 5 minutes the Wachler brothers were arguing as usual and in eachothers faces. Our balcony was located right in front of our bed and was utilized in this situation by D perfectly. During the argument concerning who got what from MikkyD’s Sky proceeded to fake throw J’s Big Mac over the balcony. JWalk, who really believed Sky threw it, went ape shit and almost threw Sky over the balcony with it. After a minute of intense heat Sky showed the BigMac and all was fine. We passed out for the night after our McDonalds.
We woke up the next morning ready for a crazy hike down the gorge. JWalk was still sick so it was the usual Final Four. Sky, LTW, PapaWach, and myself. After a dangerous but enjoyable two hours of descending down the gorge we arrived back in the hotel. A short 20 minutes later we were off again into the city. Our first stop was at a bullfighting ring. This is where I took some E P I C pictures and got to run out into the ring. We followed this by watching JWalk purchase an air-soft AK-47 machine gun, and enough bullets to take on every matador in town from Armeria Self Deportes. We walked back to our hotel after this gun purchase with high hopes of sniping cattle. Once J’s rents saw the gun they freaked out and told JWalk that he was simply a putz. That gun was never shot, and left under the bed in our hotel room the next day. Great purchase that was J. We mingled our way back into the middle of Ronda to go shopping and eat. We shopped for a few hours, bought some great clothing, I pulled off my incredible basketball move to a local Rondian, and got some more McDonalds. Later that night, our last night, we got dinner at Duquesa de Parcent. A few bottles of Creacion Conrad Solean 2004/05 later we were louder than the Gaza and eating up every piece of food in sight. I do eat a lot people but in comparison to J and Sky it is simply a joke and a third.
The next day begain with an almost devastating event. Sky, while cleansing himself, had the glass shower door fall on him, knockin him to the ground. Thank god everyone was okay, but LTW, after seeing a pregnant lady in the lobby, went what we like to call apeshit on a few people speaking very little English. Anyway following a beautiful, gorge view, continental breakfast, we once again packed the car for another drive through Espana. This time we were off to Sevilla. Yes, the home of Benjamin Gordon but No, he was in Switzerland with SpeHill, Andy “PowerCouple” Hiller, and some other flags. Throughout the 2 hour or so drive, Sky and I expressed our desire to get in a round of golf before our 6pm flight back to Barca. The rest of the fam (yes I am a part of it) disregarded our wishes as they had a train to Madrid at 2pm, and wanted some time with their boys. Of course, DWach said fuck that and LTW called Xavier (their full-time helper/guide). Xavier said no chance, given the short notice and the popular Sunday afternoon timing, only to call back an hour later with 4 words: Club Zaudin de Golf. Vajjj.
After saying goodbye to JWalk, PapaWach, and LT, Sky and I hoped in a cab. Within an hour we were on the first tee. We had exactly 3 hours to be at the airport. To our surprise it rained in Sevilla the day before so the course wasn’t allowing golf carts on the course. This lackofgolfcarting.com made a dramatic difference in our time constraints so we had to keep it pushing out there on the course. After 5 holes we were tied. Now to those of you who know about my golfing skills, SkyWachlers golfing skills, and how many times Sky has ever beaten me in golf which according to espn@fenkellvs.TheSky.com is 0. Going into the 6th hole I was a little upset because I had missed a few putts through the day. So I picked it up the next two holes and won them by my solid short game. Moving now to the green at the 8th hole, Sky had a 2nd shot to about 8 feet, I unfortunately had a bad short chip on the green leaving myself with a 15 footer. Ultimately meaning that Sky had a chance to win the hole and take it to the 9th. I missed my putt tapped in, and left Sky with a chanceofthecentury.org. His putt had a chance but it rimmed out. Tough loss for Sky, but a usual against Fenkell. We finished 9, got changed out of our Golfing attire, got a beer, and hit a cab to the aeroporto. We made good timing and arrived safely back in Barcelona at 8 PM. Great trip, great memories, and a “How How” to the Wachler family for having me be apart of such a fun trip.
