So, I do understand it’s been approximately one month since my last blog entry, but there is good reason for it. I am currently heading back to Bloomfield Hills from a two-day wonderful getaway in Boyne Highlands Resort with close friend, beautiful smile… Debra. To recap the past month I will begin by talking about my academics, athletics, and finishing off te current state of my family. I finished my last final on December 12th, in my poop schwagggles philosophy class. After completeing the exam, I went back to my house on Evergreen and awaited my exam scores. Little do you know, your boy Fankle made Dean’s List, once again, and ultimitley made not only Dudley happy, but also Bobby and Ellen. It is crazy now when I think about it because I only have one more semester left before I graduate from Michigan State University with a BA in Comminucations and a specialization in Public Relations.
Moving to the athletic fields now, AKA roller rink tiles. The last weekend before break, I had a tournament in Grandville, Michigan. There we played four games, in which your boy, Hollywood Fenkell put the puck in the net, distributed the puck to his teammates before they put it in the net, as often as Evgeni Melkine has done this season in the NHL. Our first game was against Eastern Michigan, long time rivel and we won 9-3. Bobby Fenkell made the two and a half hour treck out to Grandville to see his son play the sport that he has not only dedicated, commited, and passionate about, but also envisions himself working in the field throughout the rest of his life as an ESPN analyst for the NHL. Although, recently ideas have been sparked up about a possible 30-minute segment show, such as Jim Rome Is Burning or PTI in which Fenkell will interview professional athlete, compete against these professional athletes, and somehow, some way, create a show that is so innovative that millions of viewers from around the world will tune in and begin to speak Fenkelleryageage. This possibility excites Fankle as well as all of his other supporters, fans, followers, haters, and family members. Now, back to that game against Eastern Michigan, Michael, not Mike, put up a hattrick and added a few helpers as expected. The second game was against University of Michigan. For those of you who know quality, Jewish hockey players who have grown up in the Metropolitan Detroit area, you would know a somewhat talented hockey player by the name of Seth Rogers. Seth happens to play for the University of Michigan this season, which realistically and ultimately added more suspence and competition in the eyes of both Fenkell and Rogers, as they both grew up playing hockey with one another and against one another. This reunion of quality Jewish hockey players was a sight to behold. You guessed it, Fenkell had the upper hand, put the puck in the net many times, in route to another 9-3 victory. The third and final game of that Saturday was against Grand Valley State, and we beat them 6-3. The last game the next day, which was a Sunday, we played Purdue and pushed their shit in so deep, that it was coming out of one of their player’s mouth. Fankle sniped the puck in once, and distributed the puck 5 times, which is beyond respectable and admirable in any community and any country and any continent. We left Grandville 4 and 0, with an overall record of 7 and 0 this season. Looking forward to our showdown at the JCC in West Bloomfield January 17th and 18th against Ohio State, Michigan, and Western Michigan. Vajjjsicles. Nuff Nuff. Remember when in doubt, when in need of a timely goal or when in need, a beautiful pass through three people’s skates to your weakest player so he can get his first goal of the season, PutinFenkell.
Now on to the most important facet of life, the Fenkell Family. When I returned home from school for break, I was thrilled for three main reasons. First off, both Joel and Jeffrey were home. All three of us under the same roof, something that has not occured since Big Ben Wallace left the Detroit Pistons. Secondly, DUDLEY. And lastly, being able to spend the next month with all my family and all my friends in one of the most affluent cities and counties in all of the United States.
As this blog entry is being produced, many events will soon occur and take place in Michigan and as Teddypainderassdown said, “All the way up in Toronto…” for New Years. My New Years will be spent in Toronto with more characters than a goddam Disney movie, such as long beloved and E P I C… The Beauty and the Fankle, AKA the Beast.
Now I am going to turn it over to our special guest apprearance, Deb Harris, as she reminisces and recalls specific past events that she had with Fenkell Family members, Fenkell friends, and Fenkell wannabes.
After two very disappointing attemps, my third effort in traveling to Michigan to see Michael, his family and his friends was a success. When I finally made it through the baggage claim and found Michael and his father, in their white truck I was extremely happy that I was finally there. We had been antipating this week to spend together ever since I booked my flight to Michigan a month prior. Although the dates had changed slighty, we had 5 days ahead of us. The first night was very exciting for the fact that I was not only introduced to the Fenkell family minus Jeffrey (who was very much involved with his possible future wife, Sammy) but I was also able to meet many of Michael’s very friendly and fun friends. We had a great time at the bar, drinking but also having a good time with the Groves Class of ’98, as they were celebrating their 10-year reunion. They were kind enough to share their delicious spread of vegatables with the two os us, which we enjoyed immensely in the back of Dick o Dows in Birmingham. The next day we were able to have lunch with Shashu at Steve’s Deli. It reminded me of a place we have in Long Island, Ben’s Deli… great Jeiwsh food. Later that day, The Fenkell’s and I went to dinner, where I was able to get to know everyone better. I was lucky enough to see Joel in action, hitting on the beautiful waitress, Rita, whose age was questionable. I really enjoyed this time spent with the four out of five Fenkells because the men are extremely humorous, while Ellen is so sweet. The next day we left for Boyne Highlands… a four-hour car ride. Michael drove and was able to get us there in great timing, with little help from mapquest. He’s still sour about Conway Road’s confusing existence within the directions. Michael wanted to get to Boyne as soon as possible, which resulted in my malnutrition of the day. After much complaining about my hunger, we made it there, settled in to our very nice hotel room and left to have dinner. I ate half of my meal before he was even able to take a bite. I was pretty hungry to say the least. The wait staff took a liking to Michael right away, and the manager made sure we were enjoying ourselves. Due to Michigan’s law of prohibiting the sale of alcohol during Christmas Day, we did alittle day-drinkage the next day. Ashley Becker, our waitress, had no idea what she was in for when we sat in her section. I’m pretty sure we brought some light to her workday. After a few hours spent eating lunch and doing a heavy load of drinking… we made our way to a shop where they sold bathing suits. To our dismay, I forgot my bathing suit at Michaels house in Bloomfield… which I did not realize until 2 hours into the ride. Sooo, Michael insisted on buying me a “Christmas gift” which he claims is a beautiful two-piece bathing suit, I’d have to argue that. But, it did the job, so we spent some time in “The largest hot tub the Midwest has to offer.” That was the highlight of Michael’s time spent at Boyne, which is not surprising because he kept mentioning this famous hot tub. The rest of the time spent there was really relaxing and I am very pleased we were able to spend time there- even if we did not ski at Boyne… a ski resort. I had a great time with Michael, as usual.
I’l like to thank Deb for that nice little rendition of our time spent together. I just returned home from a wonderful classy dinner at Mon Jin Lau with my rents, Smitty, and Debra. We all had a fun time, ate great food, and had many laughs. We did struggle to find the place at first but soon foud our way into the highly anticipated and lovely Chinese restaurant. My fajjj was cracking jokes and telling stories the whole meal, while Smitty and Deb listened and laughed. It was a lot of fun. My majjj also did her thing and looked beautiful while doing it. Watching the Red Wings game. It’s the end of the first period and we are losing 3-0. Hopefully we find a way to come back, time will tell.
